Continuing Good Senior Oral Health without Insurance

As you age, you know good senior oral health is important. So you continue to brush and floss your teeth daily.
The great news is, 75% of adults over 65 retain their natural teeth. The bad news? Your risk for gum disease rises drastically as you get older. 70% of adults 65 and older have periodontal disease which can lead to infections, tooth loss and the need for dentures.
But there’s another downside to being able to maintain good senior oral health – and that’s the lack of dental insurance. Unfortunately, many older adults in Hendricks County lose their dental insurance coverage when they retire. And dental coverage is excluded or optional with programs like Medicare and Medicaid. So given this, only 32% of older Americans have dental insurance.
